Body fluids like blood, saliva, tears, sweat, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid are a source of putative biochemical markers that reflect various pathophysiological disorders. The saliva secreted from salivary glands and gingival crevice has some components that originate from the plasma with an overlap of almost 20–30% with plasma proteome, and the majority of these exhibit antimicrobial activity, transport, and enzymatic functions. Human saliva, therefore, is a potential diagnostic fluid that can reflect many pathophysiological states of the body.
In addition, saliva testing is a non-invasive and inexpensive assay. For the reasons above, mass spectrometry-based salivary proteomics can be a powerful tool for screening biomarkers of oral diseases. The salivary proteome has been characterized in several diseases: oral squamous cell carcinoma and oral leukoplakia, chronic graft-versus-host disease Sjögren's syndrome and other autoimmune disorders such as SAPHO, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, and genetic diseases like Down's Syndrome and Wilson disease.
We analyze saliva proteins using advanced DIA-based discovery proteomics technology to reveal a large amount of disease-related functional information in high-throughput mode for a large number of saliva samples, helping you identify novel biomarkers associated with related diseases. We also offer highly multiplexed targeted proteomics with absolute quantification for customized panels of proteins.
The depth and relatively straightforward nature of our workflow should make it a powerful new tool in the detection of biomarkers of oral diseases.
Label-free quantitative discovery and MRM based targeted validation workflow.
