The immunopeptidome refers to the study of all peptides presented by nucleated cells on MHC-Class I or II proteins (Major Histocompatibility Complex, also known as the major histocompatibility complex, such as the expression product of human MHC, HLA, Human Leukocyte Antigen) involved in the antigen presentation pathway, and is essential for the investigation of immunogenic epitopes in cell-mediated and humoral responses.
Immunopeptidome profiling is the study of the dynamics and composition of class I and II immune peptides, enabling not only the discovery of targets for personalized cancer immunotherapy (such as neoantigens from tumor-specific mutations or tumor-associated antigens), but also contributes to new mRNA/polypeptide vaccines and immune cell therapy.
