Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a polymer formed by the polymerization of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) in the presence of initiators such as peroxide and azo compounds. PVC can also be polymerized under the action of light and heat according to the free radical polymerization reaction mechanism. Both vinyl chloride homopolymer and vinyl chloride copolymer are vinyl chloride resins.

Polyvinyl Chloride Analysis Technology We Can Provide:
1. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR)
In the composition analysis of unknown polymer material samples, it is not easy to use dissolution method and hot pressing film method because the solubility and melting point of the samples are not known in advance. Rigid PVC plastic powder can be scraped and pressed with KBr, but ester plasticizers and inorganic fillers will interfere with the spectrum analysis. Soft PVC products contain more ester plasticizer, which can't use KBr compression sample. In cases where the composition of the sample is not known, Creative Proteomics can perform FTIR analysis using the pyrolysis sample preparation method, which allows an initial analysis of the possible composition of the sample, in order to determine the method for further analysis.
2. Thermogravimetric Analysis (TG)
TG is a thermal analysis technology used to test the thermal stability and components of PVC materials, which measures the relationship between the quality of samples and the temperature change under the programmed temperature control. TGA is a commonly used test method in research and development and quality control of PVC. The Creative Proteomics analysis platform can combine TG with other analysis methods for comprehensive and accurate analysis for PVC materials.
3. Thermal Cracking - Gas Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry
Creative Proteomics can analyze the pyrolysis products of the samples under test by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry after pyrolytic treatment, and qualitatively analyze the pyrolysis products of the characteristics of PVC to determine whether the samples contain PVC. Finally, the content of polyvinyl chloride in the sample is determined by the external standard method of characteristic pyrolysis product benzene. The method can accurately quantify the content of polyvinyl chloride in plastics. This method has the advantages of simple pretreatment, small sample size, rapid test and good specificity.
Turnaround Time: 7-10 working days.
