Targeted metabolomics is used to identify and quantify metabolites. Through abundant information on known metabolites, we can find the metabolic pathways and metabolites related to the research target and study these pathways and metabolites. It can also confirm or validate the identified biomarkers inferred from non-targeted metabolomics experiments or from the literature.
