Strategies for Post-translational Modification Analysis
About the Infographics
Protein post-translational modification (PTM) refers to covalently binding chemical moieties to the amino acid side chains of proteins.
PTM is a dynamic regulator of protein function. It can change the physical and chemical properties of proteins by adopting different modification groups to one or more amino acid residues, which in turn alter the spatial conformation, activity state, subcellular localization, folding, stability, and protein-protein interaction. Changes in the abundance of PTM are of great significance in studying life activities and abnormal post-translational modifications that can lead to the development of various diseases.
This infographic introduces the types of PTMs commonly presented and two major analytical strategies for PTMs, including the bottom-up strategy and the top-down strategy. Download for more information.
